TWO POSTS IN ONE WEEK, WAT?

I'm totally studying for my theory final. What are YOU talking about?

I definitely haven't been keeping up with that whole "monthly afro update-palooza~" thing. XD

And so, even though there really isn't a point in it, I present to you a picture of my hair in August:

...and a picture of my hair 15 minutes ago:

...and also a picture of a pug in a sweater. Because it's just that damn cute:

...Rawr. ♥

There isn't a title awkward enough for this entry.

Dude. I hate my boobs right now.
(I would put all of this under a cut, but alas I'm using an app on my iPod. Besides, everyone on my flist is a girl except for Chris who never checks LJ and would probably enjoy reading this anyway. :P)

So, I've gained like 10ish pounds since college started. For the most part the weight has gone to totally normal places, but has also decided that my boobs just weren't big enough. That's right, Rachel. You'll yell at me even more the next time we try on clothes together.
And now a lot of my shirts and dresses either don't fit the way they should or are all like, "HELLO, THESE ARE MEGHAN'S BREASTS AND THIS IS MEGHAN." I honestly hadn't noticed that it had happened until I wore a dress to this party that I hadn't worn since I was like 16... I was on the way to the bathroom and my friend Emily just looked at me and said, "...ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" :P

So now I've gone up a cup size to 34D. Apparently it's a weird size to find at a normal clothing store with reasonable prices. I don't like it. :C

But on the bright side, I now have this really awesome Victoria's Secret bra with gel inserts that Lucia and I drew all over. :D

/awkward boob rant

Yayyyyy, Dead Week. I'm going to hunt down whoever decided that my last exam should be on the very last day of school... I've finished my finals for Composition and Sci Fi Lit, and I have Theory and Ear Training to go, but I'm not particularly worried about either... Which means that I'll probably be wasting time until I'm done. I can't wait to see my ASFA friends! And Chris will be here in about a week! :DDDD

PS: I looooooooove Cream. The band.

Thank You List, 2009

At this very moment, I am thankful for:

--The Alabama School of Fine Arts: Pfft. Don't get me wrong, 5 years of being there was totally enough... But it's made college HOLY HELL SO MUCH EASIER. I skipped 2 years of theory classes, I barely study for any of my other music classes, and I have a better work ethic than a lot of my friends. :P
Not to mention that most of my tuition is riding on music scholarships... For composition, violin, and as of next semester, singing. *bows down and worships the very ground that Mrs. Doss walks on... though I'm sure that would totally creep her out* ;)

Not to say that I sit around and watch anime all day *COUGHCOUGH*, I'm still pretty busy... Y'know, with the whole TAKING 11 CLASSES AT ONE TIME THING. But I definitely think that going to ASFA made things a lot less stressful.

--Jones Valley Urban Farm: If you guys aren't aware of how much I love JVUF by now, you must not read my posts. XD
3 years ago, if you had told me that I would love shoveling compost in mid-July in Alabama as much as I do now, I wouldn't have believed you. It's an indescribable place with noble goals and THE BEST PEOPLE EVERRRRRRR. It's easily my second home.

--Scrollworks: For giving me my first teaching job. I love the kids that I teach and I'm really hating that I won't have time to do it next semester. :(((((((((

--Danielle the Goat: For letting me potentially butcher your poetry for the sake of my portfolio.
And while I'm at it, for reminding me that it's ok to be Black and listen to The Used at the same time.

--Rachele: For reasons very similar to Danielle being on this list. XD
Also, for being my lab partner in chemistry and being someone to compare Fro-ocity with.

--Autumn: For singing my art song.

--Dr. Bowles: For playing the piano part for my art song.

---Anyone who heard my art song: ...For not throwing things onstage?

--Friends: All of my old ones at ASFA that I miss so much I want to punch something! D;

Also, All of my new ones that I've met at BSC! Believe it or not, there are other people in Alabama that listen to Tool, love Firefly, Pokemon, and foreign films, and are as obsessed with body mod as [info]stardustonsable and I are. :D
I've recently discovered that I reeeeeally hate people that I don't know, so I really appreciate all of my new friends for giving the painfully awkward girl with the violin and mini fro and the weird tan a chance. :)

And, of course, my flist. You guys listen to my rants and learn things about me that you probably don't even want to know. I can't that y'all enough for getting me through senior year, college auditions, and month-long illness right before prom... <3

--Dad: For being a real man and going to see Where the Wild Things Are with me!
Also, for being the one person in the discussions about my future goals to be completely on my side.
ALSO, for this quote:
"I'll let you grow up for as long as you want to. I stopped growing up a long time ago. Keep this up and in a few more years you'll be older than me!"

--Mom: For being reasonable when Dad isn't. ;)
And for taking care of me while I was sick in March. You guys, believe me when I say that my mom is insane. INSANE.
Also, for finally calling my piercings "cute". I KNEW YOU LIKED THEM!

--Adam: For being the perfect, over-protective brother and for volunteering to beat up the old men that hit on me. Really, thanks, but no thanks.

--Ashley and Shay: Because my kuzzos are, like, so much cooler than yours. <3

--Chris: Ahahaha, I just attempted to list the really big things that he's done for me this year and it totally didn't work. XD
Basically, he's managed to be on the other side of the country for most of the year and make it feel like he was always here. I'm pretty damn thankful for that. :) <3

--Rachel: For practice room venting sessions, really really REALLY bizarre phone conversations, and for flailing at anything and everything Disney related or remotely cute with me. :D <3

--Persephonae: FOR BEING A COMPLETE BADASS AND GETTING THREE PIERCINGS DONE AT ONE TIME.
And for having conversations with me that would have been painfully awkward to have with anyone else...
And for Persy Hugs. :3 <3

--Organic Chamomile Tea: For giving my kidneys a break from having coffee everyday.

--Cold Meds: ...Yeah.

--Skype: For letting me talk to friends out of state for free. :D
Yep. I'm a cheap one.

--Turkey Induced Comas: Because they make THE best naps ever.

--Ludwig the iPod: No, you can't borrow my headphones. *evil glare*

--Hoodies: Because their warm and easy and sometimes have a Tool logo on them and allow me to go to the C Store with no bra on.

--Flip Flops: Because a girl on my hall has confessed to peeing in the shower... >.>

--Newly Discovered Local Music: For making me love Alabama a WHOLE lot more.

--Music In General: ...There are no words.

...*sigh* I've been writing this for like an hour and a half. XD
I feel like I crammed a shitload of growing up into this passed year, especially with what's been going on with my parents. And graduating from high school. And starting college. And getting a real job... You get the idea. :P
But, once again, I can't thank you dorks enough for being there. I have an indescribably beautiful life and I still don't know what the fuck I did to deserve it.

Happy Thanksgiving. Love you guys. <3

*COUGHCOUGHSNEEZECOUGH*
Blech. I am SO ready for this week to be over. >_>

...O hai, Livejournal! *handwave*

Sorry I haven't been keeping in touch. Busy Meg is SO DAMN BUSY! End of the semester composition performances are quickly approaching, and I'm in practically everyone's pieces... Why did I choose to play the violin again? :/
The really great part is that some are being performed Tuesday and I don't have music for all of them...
I haven't really been giving my own compositions any thought because I don't want to screw up anyone else's. I'm actually quite happy with them; I've got an art song (that Autumn is going to sing Tuesday. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! :D), a few short piano diddies, a piece for violin, cello, bass, and vibraphone, and a thing for violin and piano under my belt. And I just started a choral piece with text by Stephen Crane. I'm actually genuinely happy with what I've gotten done this semester. ^_^

Anyway. Back to more reasons WHY THIS WEEK TOTALLY FAILS AND NEEDS TO DIE:

-I've been sick. Like, not able to talk or sing or go to class sick. I've discovered that I'm a total bitch when I'm in a mood to work but can't. :P
-My laptop charger is broken. Not the laptop. Just the charger. Maybe I'm weird, but that's so annoying to me! It's like having a giant chocolate cake all to yourself and then realizing that you don't have any utensils to eat it with.
Or that you've magically become allergic to chocolate.
Or that it's a really deadly chocolate cake. Like, it's poisonous. And has sharp edges. And will kill you instantly if you look at it too hard.
...I don't know where I was going with that. My laptop is also a total dinosaur, so I'm having some trouble finding a replacement.
-I really miss Chris. A lot. It feels like we never talk, but we do. I don't know... I just really want winter break to get here faster. I guess that's it.

*sigh* Now I'm all sad and stuff. That's enough ranting for awhile. :P
I'm going to go home this weekend and not think for a bit.

Lemme stand next to yo fi-yah!

Dear Alabama... )
Happy National Coming Out Day, you guyses. :) *huggles*

So. It's been a while. *handwave*

Before anyone asks, no, I haven't gotten any new piercings. X3  Though I was going to and decided that I was wanting too many in a small amount of time. The goal is to not get bored later on. :P

[On a similar note, I'm extremely glad to find out that this was an April Fool's joke.]

Seriously, nothing's really happened. I've just been writing and practicing and reading for Sci-Fi Lit. I've gotten a new piece done that my friend Autumn will sing in December! I'm also working on a piece for New Music Ensemble... strings, vibes, and voice. I've got some spiffy ideas for it. For once in my life, I'm actually excited for people to hear my pieces. :D

I want my Jimi Hendrix poster to stay on my wall. :(

How are y'all? *chinhands*

Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

What was the most memorable concert you ever attended? What made it so magical?

View 1501 Answers

As much fun as giant yellow balloons and butterfly-shaped confetti and free "just because you're awesome fans" CDs and being like OMGSOCLOSE~ feet away from Coldplay was, being in Atlanta to see 10 Years with [info]Chris was pretty damn amazing. :)

Lots of things that could have only happened to us happened. Like sitting by the bar waiting for one of the openers to come on for 30 minutes, when we were actually at the wrong stage...
Or the sketchy guy with the jacket...

And hopefully we'll do it all again during winter break in Knoxville. ^_^
...And not Nashville. :P

Totally unrelated to the post... But thank you to [info]Rachel  for my lovely new icon! ♥

What am I to do with all this silence?

I love most of my classes, but I don't hate any of them.
I've gotten my first composition assignment and I'm using [info]stardustonsable 's poetry for the text.
I've gone to my first technically second frat party.
My room isn't totally trashed yet.
My roommate freaking rocks.
I've made tons of new friends. Casual dance buddies as well as the kind that I can have random religious debates with.
I've gotten to see some old friends.
I went to see Food Inc. at Bottletree.
Because of ^that, I've gone vegetarian again.
Also because of ^that, I will NEVER get lost when driving to Bottletree. Ever. Again.
I got a conch piercing. It hurt. But only for a second.
I decided that I wanted the conch piercing about half an hour before it happened.
It occurred to me an hour ago that Chris is going to be back at school soon, but I didn't shit a brick like I did this time last year. I really really really love that guy. :)

I'm really fucking happy. Even if I won't be able to say it for the rest of the year, week one of college was a success.

Look at me update from my dorm room! :D

Yep. I know it's been awhile, but between then and now I stopped my internship at JVUF (T____________T), started and stopped the Concert Choir camp, packed, and unpacked into my new place 15 minutes away from where I was at BSC. I got here a little after 8 am to register and, thanks to the help of the volunteers, was in my dorm unpacking and decorating by like 9:30! Unfortunately, I was done by 10:30, so I've just been sort of sitting around since. >.>

Eh. I'll make a more exciting entry when I'm not totally beat. I'm so tired...

WAIT. Speaking of tired... I have to tell you about me and [info]celestialorb 's trip to Atlanta yesterday. :D
We wanted to go to the Georgia Aquarium, so naturally we decided to do so the day before I had to get up early to move in. ^_^
The only bad parts were on the way there; Chris's GPS sent us to... Not the Georgia Aquarium... Consequenty, we stopped for directions and ended up stuck in Downtown Atlanta rush hour traffic... o.o
BUT! we were ok once we got there. The aquarium is really nice! It's expensive ($25ish each...), but fun. BIG fish tanks, beluga whales, and OTTERS OMG OMG OMG. :DDDDDDD
And on the way back we had an obligatory Waffle House stop. The End! :3

How are y'all?

Proof of ASFAtitis taking it's toll on me...

My class schedule for this semester:

Alt Worlds: Read Sci Fiction
Monday, Wednesday 12:30PM - 01:50PM, Humanities Center, Room 005

Environmental Prob and Policy
Monday, Wednesday 08:00AM - 09:20AM, Harbert, Room 302

Beginning Keyboard Harmony I
Tuesday, Thursday 09:30AM - 10:50AM, Hill, Room 123

Beginning Ear Training I
Tuesday, Thursday 08:00AM - 09:20AM, Hill, Room 106

Elementary Theory I
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 09:30AM - 10:30AM, Hill, Room 117
(I had to leave June Jumpstart early and haven't taken the theory placement exam, so hopefully I'll be in something higher than Elementary. >_>)

Piano
TBA

Violin
TBA

(Since I want to keep taking violin lessons from my current teacher, I'm going to see if I can swap this time out for voice lessons. ^_^)

New Music Ensemble
Lecture Monday, Friday 03:30PM - 05:00PM, Hill, Room 104

Ensemble
TBA

Composition
Tuesday, Thursday 02:00PM - 03:20PM, Hill, Room 102

Plus, I'm in Concert Choir.

SO. After consulting with the All-Knowing Joey (who I haven't really talked to until now. But he seems cool. :D), I've decided that the TBA Ensemble and Piano have to go for sure. And I'm second thinking the voice lessons. That's way too many classes for a freshmen, methinks. >.<

But other than the fact that it's a hectic schedule (which I can probably change), I'm happy! I really wanted the Sci-Fi and Environment classes. And of course, I'm pretty damn excited that most of my schedule is music related. I'm especially excited for the New Music Ensemble, which is basically an group for experimental music. And Concert Choir, of course. :D

And now I'm off to put another very tiny dent in the mandatory AlcoholEdu class I have to finish before I move in. *sigh*

MAIKUREIJIMAIRU BURAKKUBANDANA

- go to http://translationparty.com/tp/
- enter some song lyrics
- post the resulting garbled messes to your LJ
- have your hapless flist try to guess which songs they are from

1) I'm scared to see the height of the space immediately.
2) My sweet, MAIKUREIJIMAIRU, you may need to contact the affected developments whisper.
3) And death, all-new, like the sun, the angels sing.
4) I would like a water slide of life.
5) Antenna, the center of life of children is empty.
6) I really like the paper, I can get a visa at the border of high and catch the name of the machine.
7) I, I, I am in the snow, I like him on Saturday, the purple hills (This one never reach equilibrium. XD)
8) ,, Indiana, Louisiana, and a sweet bank robbery BURAKKUBANDANA.
9) Wait, I do not love you like your love. (Bahahaha, so easy.)
10) Please balls, my reel, please refer to cut the string. (I lol'd.)

That was way too much fun. Night, kids. ♥

Edit: I just did one more and had to post it:

...Woooooooooooooo! Maybe I won't change my hair for like a whole year now! :P
The only drawback is that right now it's SO FREAKING GREASY. Seriously. I mean, I know my hair is naturally really dry, but jeez. I've spent the day going to the bathroom and blotting it with napkins. >_> But it's just because of the twists. They and the grease will both be gone once I wash my hair again.
I really really really really love it! And I can't wait to see what it'll look like once it's longer! :D

(Meme lovingly stolen from [info]stardustonsable )

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

I have 75 exactly. How spiffy! :D
Also, like Danielle la Belle Chevre, I haven't updated these in a minute... Most were taken from my previous account. I have "making purple" on here. >_>

artichokes - If you don't know about my obsession with artichokes, you clearly have never been in the vicinity when I spot one. I honestly just like everything about them. They're delicious, they're shaped funny, and have an odd color.

butterflies - I used to have this thing for butterflies. I guess I still have it, but I haven't thought about it in a while. Mostly the whole caterpillar ---> butterfly aspect.

composing - Aha, I DO THIS SOMETIMES. Or talk about ideas that are never actually put on paper. The idea to try composing was actually sparked from Dr. Chance going off on an angry rant one day while subbing for Mrs. Doss in choir. A bassist had said that his part was 'too hard" for him to sing properly, and Dr. Chance's response was, "TOO BAD. Our job as classical musicians is to replicate what's on the page verbatim, down to the very last detail. You can't just say something's 'too hard' and do a half-assed job of preparing it."
^ ...But with more yelling. And probably some spitting.
Anyway, at the time, that registered as the least creative take on music EVER. I know that plenty of people train their entire lives to make careers based on this, and trust me, I've got loads of respect for them. Professional, dedicated musicians seriously blow my mind. But I really wanted to make something new, not recreate things that have already been around for centuries.
So... I tried composing. The End! :D
(Thanks, Kevy.)

earthworms - They rock!! They're great for the soil and they're fun to play with. Where there's kick ass soil, you will surely find earthworms.  JVUF used to not have very many because the downtown site is a stripped parking lot. :( But we've got some now! :D

err - ...I'm an Aqua Teen Hunger Force fan. Actually, idk if I'm still a fan. I haven't seen it in a minute... I'd probably just think it's stupid now. >_>

gir - I'm also an Invader Zim fan. Now and forever. "I'M GONNA SING THE DOOM SONG NOW!!"

ligers - They're lions and tigers at the same time. What's not to love?

onomatopoeias - MOO! I have a habit of yelling them at people. RAWR! "Onomatopoeia" was also the word I chose for B. Hill's Beautiful Words project. BLARG!

radiance - This is a reference to Evidence of Things Unseen, which has become one of my favorite novels.

snow - There's not much to this one. If you've lived in Alabama your whole life like I have then you also love snow. :P The most I've ever seen at one time was during my trip to boston to Audition for Berklee. Everyone else that actually lived there hated it, but I was resisting the urge to make snow angels and start a snowball fight. :3

sustainable agriculture - Aha, I DO THIS SOMETIMES, TOO. I don't particularly feel like ranting about how much cooler sustainable methods of farming are than you, so I shant. Look in another entry! :P

yellow - It's my favorite color. And one of my favorite songs by Coldplay. YOUR SKIIIIIIIIN, OH YEAH YOUR SKIN AND BONES / TURN IIIIIIIIINTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL / AND YOU KNOOOOOOOOW, YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU SO...

"Be gentle with our treasures."

Angels and Demons at the Dollar Theatre FTW. Complete with awful sound quality. :)

BEST. GINGER ALE. EVER.
It's super strong. I poured a glass of it at work, put it up to my face to have a sip, and it stung my eyes. XD
But you can only get it in North and South Carolina... :(((

...Hai! :D

I'm finally buying a copy of Sibelius! Since [info]italyatmidnight won't be around soon to make my scores look readable. T_T
It's really expensive though. *is resisting the urge to just find a torrent* The student version is just $100, but I'm wanting to shoot for the real one that's $600+. :\
But it'll be a good investment. I'll write things faster (and in a way that people can actually read the notes...Rachel and Allyson know all about my hand-written parts... XD) and, since it's the real version, I'll pretty much be able to do everything I'd want to do in a piece. Like freaking double-dotted rhythms. *thinks back to Rachel trying to put the arrangement of Trouble into Sibelius...facepalm*

Con of Working on an Organic Farm: One weekend of funnel cake and Dippin' Dots ice cream at Six Flags makes you feel like crap for a few days. >_>
